Sew the Wool+Wax Tote
with Connie during this 1 day class

Saturday, October 17th, 2026!

Instructor, Connie Hinz, will teach you how to make the Wool+Wax Tote, a pattern by Noodlehead Sewing Patterns. We can help you get all of the required supplies in the shop! (This class is held at our shop in Spruce Grove, Alberta. At this time we do not offer virtual classes.)

Difficulty Level:
  • ADVANCED BEGINNER. Someone with some basic sewing knowledge can complete this easily, but it is also enjoyed by those up to an advanced level.
Skills Required:
  • Must be able to follow pattern directions to cut & prepare fabric using a cutting list on your own prior to class. Must be able to use a rotary cutter, mat and gridded ruler to prep. 
Tools Required:
  • A rotary cutter, mat and gridded rulers are needed prior to class for prep, but not required on class day. You must have your own basic sewing supplies, and sewing machine. A walking foot attachment, or dual feed machine may be helpful depending on your material choice.
Pattern Required: 
CLASS PREP:
  • Students must gather the pattern & required materials before class (links for the pattern & booklet are just above). 
  • Students must cut out all fabric pieces, and apply fusible interfacing to applicable pieces where required, before class.
Guidelines:
  • Sewers must bring their own sewing machine, all materials, and equipment.
  • Cutting table, ironing station, coffee and tea will be available.
  • Class is between 9:00 am & 4:00 pm, with a 30 min lunch break at 12:00. You can leave for your lunch or bring a lunch to eat at your sewing table. You are welcome to sew on your own through the break if you choose to. Microwave available.
  • If we don't have our class minimum 2 weeks before class, the class will be cancelled and fees refunded.
  • We can help you with your class supplies in the shop!
  • There are no refunds on classes if you can't attend, but if you let us know at least 14 days before the class, we can issue you a store credit. If you let us know you can't make it, we will see if we have someone on the waiting list.

SEWING MACHINE RENTALS:

We have 8 x bernette 08 Straight Stitch sewing machines for rent during classes. These are high speed, heavy duty mechanical machines, equipped with an extension table. They work wonderful for bag making, and although they are powerhouse machines, they are not "industrial", making them very easy to use. Just thread and stitch! (Note: They are only straight stitch machines. Brief threading and usage instructions will be provided if required.) 

Included with rental: 
  • Extension Table 
  • 1 x Standard Straight Stitch Foot
  • 1 x Zipper Foot (Other feet available upon request)
  • 1 x Bobbin
  • Screwdriver 
Requirements:
  • Only to be used with a thread weight of Tex 45 or under. (NOTE: Tex 70 thread can be used if it is bonded.) Use with Highspeed (HLx5) needles or any home sewing needle system (1 30/705 H), such as Schmetz needles. These are all sold in our shop.
