Guest Instructor, Winnifred Smith, will be joining us to teach you how to make the either the small or large size of the popular 'Retreat Bag'. This pattern, by Janelle MacKay, is a very easy to make project that will give you a very useful and practical practical pouch. (This class is held at our shop in Spruce Grove, Alberta. At this time we do not offer virtual classes.)

Bring all of your supplies to class, and learn how to cut fabric with a rotary cutter and ruler, fuse on interfacing and fleece, and sew a bigger bag complete with a zipper and wire frame opening.

Difficulty Level: Suited to a beginning bag maker, or a beginner to intermediate sewer just starting to make bags. You know the basics of using your sewing machine, such as threading it, winding a bobbin, and sewing straight lines. 

Tools Required: A rotary cutter, mat and gridded rulers are needed in class. We will have some available to use, or you can bring your own. You must have your own basic sewing supplies, a sewing machine with a zipper foot. 

Pattern Required: A download link will be emailed to you immediately after your class signup. NOTE: The complete kits we sell do have the pattern included. 

Guidelines:

  • Sewers must bring their own sewing machine, all materials, and equipment.
  • Cutting table, ironing station, coffee and tea will be available.
  • Class is between 9:00 am & 2:30 pm, with flexible break around 11:00. Bring a snack! You are welcome to sew on your own through the break if you choose to. Microwave available.
  • If we don't have our class minimum 2 weeks before class, the class will be cancelled and fees refunded.
  • There is no class prep for this class, other than to collect your supplies. We can help you with your class supplies in the shop!
  • There are no refunds on classes if you can't attend, but if you let us know at least 14 days before the class, we can issue you a store credit. If you let us know you can't make it, we will see if we have someone on the waiting list.
