Sew the Jasper Tote Bag with Tara Sinclair during this 1 day class!

Make your own stylish and practical everyday tote! The Jasper Tote Bag by UhOh Creations is a roomy, structured bag with plenty of pockets to keep your essentials organized. It's the perfect companion for work, shopping, travelling, or everyday adventures!

The Jasper Tote has some wonderful features, including a front pocket with both slip and zippered compartments, pleated side pockets for extra storage, and a large interior zippered divider pocket to keep everything in its place. With comfortable handles and a generous size, this is a bag you'll love to carry every day.

Choose a soft, durable faux leather for the main body and pair it with a favourite printed canvas for a beautiful contrast. The combination of fabrics gives the bag a professional finish while allowing you to show off your personal style.

This pattern is designed to be sewn on a domestic sewing machine using the recommended materials. You'll learn some great bag-making techniques, including constructing pockets, installing zippers, working with stabilizers, and creating a drop-in lining. This clever construction method means you won't have to turn your finished bag through a small opening!

Finished size: 16” (40.6 cm) wide, 10” (25.4 cm) tall, and 6” (15.2 cm) deep.

Difficulty Level: ADVANCED BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE. Someone with some basic sewing knowledge can complete this easily, but it is also enjoyed by those up to an advanced level.

Skills Required: 

• You must be comfortable sewing an accurate seam allowance, this pattern calls for a 3/8” seam allowance. 
• Understanding the standard sewing features of your machine is a must, when in doubt, bring extra presser feet, and your manual.
• You must be willing to try new things, bag making is not just sewing and we may go out of your comfort zone.
• We are going to do some zippers and curved sewing - be prepared!

Tools Required: You must have your own basic sewing supplies, and sewing machine. 

DETAILS:

• You will an email the class prep shortly after your purchase (by the next business day), This will have helpful links to products & patterns, plus the requirements for the class. 
• The class prep has fabric and interfacing suggestions, based on different choices you can make for the exterior and lining of the bag. We can help you with your class supplies in the shop, just pay us a visit!
• Sewers must complete the prep work that is emailed out after class signup. 

Guidelines:

• Sewers must bring their own sewing machine, all materials, and equipment.
• Cutting table, ironing station, coffee and tea will be available.
• Class is between 9:00 am & 4:00 pm, with a 30 min lunch break at 12:00. You can leave for your lunch or bring a lunch to eat at your sewing table. You are welcome to sew on your own through the break if you choose to. Microwave available.
  
• If we don't have our class minimum 2 weeks before class, the class will be cancelled and fees refunded.
• Class prep instructions (homework) will be provided by the instructor and emailed to you 2 weeks before class. You are welcome to buy the pattern and purchase supplies before this date if you desire. We can help you with your class supplies in the shop!
• There are no refunds on classes if you can't attend, but if you let us know at least 14 days before the class, we can issue you a store credit. If you let us know you can't make it, we will see if we have someone on the waiting list.

SEWING MACHINE RENTALS:

We have 8 x bernette 08 Straight Stitch sewing machines for rent during Sewcial Sewing days and classes. These are high speed, heavy duty mechanical machines, equipped with an extension table. They work wonderful for bag making, and although they are powerhouse machines, they are not "industrial", making them very easy to use. Just thread and stitch! (Note: They are only straight stitch machines. Brief threading and usage instructions will be provided if required.) 

Included with rental: 

• Extension Table 
• 1 x Standard Straight Stitch Foot
• 1 x Zipper Foot (Other feet available upon request)
  
• 2 x Bobbins
• Screwdriver 

Requirements:

Only to be used with a thread weight of Tex 45 or under. (NOTE: Tex 70 thread can be used if it is bonded.) Use with Highspeed (HLx5) needles or any home sewing needle system (130/705 H), such as Schmetz needles. These are all sold in our shop.

To add the sewing machine rental to your sewing date, make sure you add BOTH the sewing date and then also the rental for the same date to your cart!!
