Our Featured Pattern

Why We Chose the Crescent Tote
For September, we wanted a project that felt a little cozy, useful, and fun to personalize, and the Crescent Tote by Noodlehead checked all the boxes! We love its "medium" size and pretty curved shape, plus it has just enough interesting details to make it a satisfying sew. With a zippered pocket on both the outside and inside, a sturdy flat bottom, and plenty of room for a small knitting project or your everyday essentials, it's the kind of tote you'll happily keep close by. Best of all, those beautiful curves and simple webbing handles give us lots of opportunities to play with fabrics, colours, zippers, and fun combinations for this month's Maker Series!

Recommended Fabrics: Corduroy or Light Canvas (7-9 oz. weight) for exterior fabric. Quilting cotton for Lining.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Approx. Finished Dimensions: 10¾” [27.3 cm] tall, 10” [25.4 cm] wide and 5½” [14 cm] deep (measured at oval base)

Estimated Sewing Time: 2-3 hours

Project Requirements SIMPLIFIED!

Recommended Materials & Supplies

1) Main Fabric: 5/8 yard Exterior Fabric

2) Lining Fabric: 3/4 yard Lining Fabric

3) Fusible Interfacing: 1 yard - Use light-weight to heavy woven interfacing depending on the stiffness you want. We used EB-Fuse Heavy on the lining pieces.

4)Fusible Fleece: 1/2 yard Fusible Thermolam Plus Fleece

5) Zippers: 1x 9" zipper for the front pocket, 1 x 7" zipper for lining. NOTE: You can use the 24" zipper to make the inner zipper too, just add a single pull, and then uncheck the small #3 zipper. When cutting your zippers, cut them 1" longer than noted in the supply list, since they are cut from a longer zipper length and don't have 'tails'.

6) Webbing: 1 1/4 yards of 1 1/2" wide webbing for handles.
