Make your own custom big beach bag! The Taylor Beach Bag is a huge tote bag with lots of space to carry your items to the beach or home from the market.
Use a heavy PVC-coated mesh so everything can breathe yet stay secure. This bag is squishy and easily collapsed, simple to fit in the suitcase for your next adventure. Fill it with your towels and beach accessories like pails and shovels, it’s a perfect design to just shake out the sand later. Slip your wallet, cell phone, or sunglasses in the interior hanging zipper pocket, and go spend time in the sun with friends and family.
The pattern was designed for quilting cotton, light canvas, or light denim with plastic mesh and is designed to be made on a domestic sewing machine! The construction method for this pattern uses easy to sew binding along the bottom and top edges of the bag.
Finished size: 18” (45.7 cm) wide, 16” (40.6 cm ) tall and 6” (15.2 cm) deep
Difficulty Level: ADVANCED BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE. Someone with some basic sewing knowledge can complete this easily, but it is also enjoyed by those up to an advanced level.
Skills Required:
- You must be comfortable sewing an accurate seam allowance, this pattern calls for a 3/8” seam allowance.
- Understanding the standard sewing features of your machine is a must, when in doubt, bring extra presser feet, and your manual.
- You must be willing to try new things, bag making is not just sewing and we may go out of your comfort zone.
- We are going to do some zippers and curved sewing - be prepared!
Tools Required: You must have your own basic sewing supplies, and sewing machine.
DETAILS:
- You will receive a link to download the class prep immediately after payment, and shortly after your purchase (by the next business day), we will send you an email with helpful links to products & patterns, plus the requirements for the class.
- The class prep has fabric and interfacing suggestions, based on different choices you can make for the exterior and lining of the bag. We can help you with your class supplies in the shop, just pay us a visit!
- Sewers must complete the prep work that is emailed out after class signup.
Guidelines:
- Sewers must bring their own sewing machine, all materials, and equipment.
- Cutting table, ironing station, coffee and tea will be available.
- Class is between 9:00 am & 4:00 pm, with a 30 min lunch break at 12:00. You can leave for your lunch or bring a lunch to eat at your sewing table. You are welcome to sew on your own through the break if you choose to. Microwave available.
- If we don't have our class minimum 2 weeks before class, the class will be cancelled and fees refunded.
- Class prep instructions (homework) will be provided by the instructor and emailed to you 2 weeks before class. You are welcome to buy the pattern and purchase supplies before this date if you desire. We can help you with your class supplies in the shop!
- There are no refunds on classes if you can't attend, but if you let us know at least 14 days before the class, we can issue you a store credit. If you let us know you can't make it, we will see if we have someone on the waiting list.
