Soffia

Designed by UJAMAA BAGETTES

Part of the Amma Collection
Round-bottomed, cross body or shoulder bag

SOFFIA continues the AMMA Collection that started with SVAVA and LAUFEY. SOFFIA has the same front zipper styling as the other AMMAS but has her own unique shape and fabric choices.

“AMMA” is Icelandic for “Grandmother” and all the bags in this collection are named after the female ancestors of one of our BAGETTES. Soffia Sigur∂ardottir lived in northeast Iceland in the 1800s and she is the great-grandmother of Svava and Laufey. Soffia had four children and lost her husband after only 11 years of marriage. Life in Iceland was never easy but it has certainly been recorded through sagas and genealogy. Iceland has a famous genealogy data base going back to the first settlers of Iceland in the late 800s. We certainly won’t run out of names for bags!

SOFFIA has the same front zipper styling as the other AMMAS but has her own unique shape - with a curvy semi-circular outline. SOFFIA is designed to be soft and slouchy, but that is up to you - make a firmer bag with heavier interfacing or exterior fabric choices.

Emmaline Bags sells BAGETTES patterns online, and all profits from these pattern sales go directly to the Grandmothers Campaign.
