Difficulty Level: INTERMEDIATE - Someone with some basic bag making experience can complete this easily, but it is also enjoyed by those up to an advanced level.
Skills Required: Must be able to follow pattern directions to cut & prepare fabric using a cutting list on your own prior to class. Must be able to use a rotary cutter, mat and gridded ruler to prep pattern pieces prior to class.
Tools Required: A rotary cutter, mat and gridded rulers are needed prior to class for prep, but not required on class day. You must have your own basic sewing supplies, a sewing machine with a zipper foot.
Pattern Required: You can purchase the PDF pattern from the Blue Calla Patterns site HERE, or the pre-printed version from our website HERE. Each student is required to own their own pattern. GET THE COMPLETE KIT FOR THIS CLASS - INCLUDING PATTERN!
DETAILS:
- You will receive a link to download the class prep immediately after payment, and shortly after your purchase (by the next business day), we will send you an email with helpful links to products & patterns, plus the requirements for the class.
- The class prep has fabric and interfacing suggestions, based on different choices you can make for the exterior and lining of the bag. We can help you with your class supplies in the shop, just pay us a visit!
- Sewers must complete the prep work that is emailed out after class signup.
Guidelines:
- Sewers must bring their own sewing machine, all materials, and equipment.
- Cutting table, ironing station, coffee and tea will be available.
- Class is between 9:00 am & 3:00 TO 3:30 pm, with a 30 min lunch break around 12:00. Because we are not exactly sure how long the class will take, the time will be flexible. You can leave your sewing supplies in our secure shop overnight. You can leave for your lunch or bring a lunch to eat at your sewing table. You are welcome to sew on your own through the break if you choose to. Microwave available.
- If we don't have our class minimum 2 weeks before class, the class will be cancelled and fees refunded. You are welcome to download the pattern and purchase supplies before this date if you desire. We can help you with your class supplies in the shop!
- There are no refunds on classes if you can't attend, but if you let us know at least 14 days before the class, we can issue you a store credit. If you let us know you can't make it, we will see if we have someone on the waiting list.

Support and stabilize your fabric with our Emmaline brand fusible woven cotton interfacing.
We have 3 weights of all purpose, woven, fusible, interfacing suitable for a range of weights of cotton, wool, faux leather, or knit fabric. These work very well to stiffen and add structure to exterior/interior bag outers & linings, pockets, or garments.
